Photo: Boeing.Boeing reported a pop in earnings and operating cash flow in the second quarter of this year, driven by improved operating performance, according to the company. Revenue for the its network and space systems division came in at $1.7 billion, with operating margin increasing to 9.1 percent. Backlog for the full defense, space and security division was $58 billion, of which 37 percent represents orders from international customers.

Photo: ESA.The Norwegian Space Center has announced successful deployment of critical antennas and probes on the NORsat 1 and NORsat 2 microsatellites built by Canada’s Space Flight Laboratory (SFL), which launched on July 14 from Kazakhstan. Most notable was deployment of a large Yagi antenna from NORsat 2 that will provide first-of-its-kind Very High Frequency (VHF) Data Exchange (VDE) from space, according to the Norwegian Space Center.

Photo: Boeing.To combat the slowdown in Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite orders, Boeing Satellite Systems International is rapidly implementing new technology in its satellite designs and manufacturing processes, Mark Spiwak, the company’s president, said in an interview with Via Satellite. According to Spiwak, the company’s advanced payloads can help accommodate customers who desire more flexible assets as they prepare for the future of the industry.

Photo: XipLink.XipLink has announced immediate availability for its new XA-200K model, a 1U form factor appliance that supports up to 200,000 simultaneous sessions for Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) acceleration and IP traffic optimization to 1.3 Gbps. In addition, XipLink is offering two sister products using the same scalable technology for TCP acceleration applications only, the XS-SCPS-200K, and a virtual version leveraging high performance hypervisors supporting all XipOS optimization features called the XV-Gig. XipLink also announced future availability for a horizontally scalable platform running multiple Virtual Machines to obtain aggregate capacities of 10 to 15 Gbps and more than one million TCP sessions later in 2017.
