Pixelation usually indicates corrupted or missing transport-stream data, while stuttering can also be caused by decoding, storage, or display problems. Identifying which type of failure you have prevents unnecessary channel rescans.



Measure signal quality first
Open the tuner statistics and watch signal quality during the problem. A low or unstable quality reading points to dish alignment, cable loss, weather, interference, or an incorrect LNB configuration. Inspect the same transponder at different times to identify weather-related changes.
Check decoding and drivers
If signal quality is stable, update the graphics driver and enable hardware decoding where supported. Test another video renderer and compare a standard-definition channel with an HD channel. If only HD stutters, the computer may be struggling with codec or GPU processing.
Check storage performance
Recording to a nearly full or slow drive can cause dropped frames. Leave adequate free space, avoid recording to a heavily used external drive, and check whether antivirus scanning is affecting the recording folder.
Use a controlled test
- Test live playback without recording.
- Test a short recording and play it back later.
- Compare another channel on the same transponder.
- Compare a different transponder and tuner if available.
Keep a note of signal quality, CPU usage, GPU usage, and dropped-frame counts. This evidence will show whether the fix belongs in the dish, driver, codec, or storage layer.
