Hardware requirements
Each tuner needs its own PCIe slot or USB port with adequate bandwidth. PCIe DVB-S2 cards are generally more stable than USB tuners for multi-tuner setups because they do not share a USB controller. Avoid connecting multiple USB tuners to the same port or hub.
Install tuners sequentially
Install each tuner and its driver one at a time. After installing a tuner, verify that it is detected correctly and that the signal is stable before installing the next one. Mixing tuner models and drivers can cause conflicts if not handled carefully.
Configure in the software
- Open the satellite TV software and navigate to the device or tuner settings.
- Each detected tuner appears as a separate entry. Label them for easy identification.
- Assign each tuner to the correct satellite position if using a DiSEqC switch.
- Set default channels for each tuner if the software supports it.
Test simultaneous use
Watch a channel on one tuner while starting a recording on another. Confirm that the software correctly manages tuner access and that recordings do not interrupt live viewing. If conflicts occur, check for driver conflicts or resource bottlenecks.
Network streaming for additional rooms
If you want to serve multiple rooms, enable the streaming server in the satellite TV software and connect additional devices through the local network. Verify streaming quality on each device before relying on the setup for regular use.
