Identify the sync problem type
Determine whether the audio is ahead or behind the video. If audio leads, the video decoder is slow. If audio lags, the audio renderer is struggling. Watching during a live broadcast with real-time content helps you notice the direction more clearly.



Adjust video buffering
In the playback or advanced settings, try increasing or decreasing the video buffer size. A larger buffer smooths out network or signal fluctuations, while a smaller buffer reduces delay. The optimal setting depends on your hardware and signal quality.
Update or change codecs
Outdated or incompatible codecs are a common source of sync problems. Update the codec pack or switch to a different decoder. The LAV Filters codec set is widely compatible and regularly updated for broadcast formats.
Check graphics driver and hardware acceleration
Graphics driver issues affect the video pipeline and can cause sync drift. Update to the latest official driver from your GPU manufacturer. Also test toggling hardware acceleration in the playback settings to see if it resolves the issue.
Verify HDMI and audio device settings
If using HDMI audio, ensure the display and audio device sample rates are compatible. A mismatch can introduce delay. Setting the audio device to a fixed sample rate in the Windows sound control panel often resolves the problem.
Reset and test
After making changes, test on multiple channels and recording playback. Restart the application and the computer between major changes to ensure the new settings take effect.
