If your receiver supports it, back up the channel list to USB first. On Enigma2 boxes, use the backup function. On simpler receivers, note down any custom channel order or favourites.

Blind Scan or Network Scan?

Most receivers offer two scan modes:

Blind scan: The receiver sweeps every possible frequency on the satellite. Slow but thorough — it finds new transponders automatically. Best after a major lineup change.

Network scan / NIT scan: Reads the broadcaster’s own channel list and adds new services announced in the network information table. Faster, but only finds channels the satellite operator tells receivers about.

If you only want to add a handful of new channels, a network scan is enough. If the whole satellite seems to have shifted, run a blind scan.

Manual Transponder Entry

For a single missing channel, look up the new frequency, symbol rate and polarization online, then add the transponder manually and scan just that one. This is faster and avoids disturbing the rest of your list.

After the Scan

Rescan produces a flat list of hundreds of channels. Use the favourites editor to organise them, and delete any unwanted radio or data channels. From then on, a monthly network scan keeps your list current without the disruption of a full blind scan.

Broadcasters Move Channels All the Time It is frustrating: a channel you watched yesterday has vanished, and the receiver shows “service not found”.
