Hardware requirements
A DVB tuner card with composite or S-Video input, or a USB capture device, lets the satellite TV software display CCTV camera feeds. Most consumer tuner cards do not include video input, so check the specifications before assuming a tuner will work.
Connecting cameras
Connect CCTV cameras to the tuner input using composite cables or an adapter. Configure the satellite TV software to recognize the input as a channel source and assign it a number that is easy to remember.
Recording camera feeds
Set up scheduled recording for the camera channel to capture continuous footage. Alternatively, use motion detection if the software supports it to record only when movement is detected. Store recordings in a dedicated folder separate from regular TV recordings.
Monitoring live feeds
Keep the camera feed visible in a corner of the screen while watching regular TV, or use a picture-in-picture mode if the software supports it. A dedicated monitor for camera feeds provides better coverage without interrupting regular viewing.
Motion alert setup
If motion detection is available, configure the sensitivity and recording duration in the application settings. Point cameras toward entry points and high-traffic areas where movement is most relevant. Test the detection by walking through the field of view to confirm it triggers reliably.
