Identify the crash type
Note when the crash occurs: immediately on launch, after the splash screen, or when switching to live TV. Each scenario points to a different cause and a different fix.
Check for Windows Update conflicts
Recent Windows updates have disrupted some tuner drivers and media applications. Open Windows Update history, note any updates installed before the problem started, and temporarily hide known-problematic updates if a pattern is clear.
Test with a clean configuration
Most applications create a backup of their settings on first run. Rename the active configuration folder to create a fresh default setup, then launch the application. If it starts successfully, the original configuration was corrupted.
Reinstall the tuner driver
A driver conflict or partial uninstall can cause the application to crash when initializing the hardware layer. Open Device Manager, uninstall the tuner driver, and scan for new hardware to reinstall a clean copy.
Verify required runtime components
Some satellite TV applications require .NET Framework, Visual C++ Redistributables, or DirectX components. Download and reinstall the latest versions from Microsoft’s official website.
Check for antivirus interference
Antivirus software can quarantine application files or block tuner access. Temporarily disable real-time protection and test the application launch. If it works, add an exception for the TV software folder.
Prevent future crashes
Keep a known-working configuration backup, update drivers from official sources only, and test after Windows updates before relying on scheduled recordings.
