Basic one-time recording
The simplest method is to navigate to the program in the EPG and select Record. This creates a one-time rule that captures the program from start to finish. Confirm the recording folder and any pre/post padding before confirming.
Recurring recording rules
For daily, weekly, or weekday recordings, use a recurring rule. Set the recurrence pattern, recording window, and the channel source. Review the rule after creation to confirm that it captures the correct time slot across time-zone changes.
Series recording
Series rules capture every episode of a show based on program name or metadata. Review series rules periodically and adjust matching criteria as needed to avoid capturing unwanted content.
Conflict resolution
When two programs overlap, the application should warn you and let you choose which to prioritize. Common options include prioritizing the first match, canceling the newer entry, or recording both if a second tuner is available.
Start and end padding
Add two to five minutes of padding before and after each recording to account for schedule changes and early starts. Live events that run over are a common cause of incomplete recordings, and padding costs only a small amount of additional storage.
Pre and post-recording actions
Some applications can start a recording a few seconds early, send a notification when recording starts, or keep the computer awake during the recording window. Configure these options in the advanced recording settings.
