Identify the update that caused the problem
Open Windows Update history and note the date and description of any updates installed before the problem appeared. Updates labeled as Quality Update or Optional Update are common culprits for driver and codec changes.
Restore from a restore point
If a restore point was created before the update, open System Restore and roll back to the state before the update. This undoes driver and system changes without affecting personal files. It is the fastest recovery method if a suitable restore point exists.
Reinstall the tuner driver
If restoring is not an option, download the latest official driver from the tuner manufacturer. Uninstall the current driver through Device Manager, restart the computer, and install the fresh driver. Use the manufacturer installer rather than letting Windows Update supply a generic driver.
Reset Windows Media Foundation
Windows updates sometimes replace codec components that the TV application relies on. Open Windows Features and temporarily disable and re-enable Media Features to reset the Media Foundation components. Restart after making this change.
Hide the problematic update
After recovering functionality, hide the problematic update using the Windows Update Catalog or the Hide Update PowerShell command. This prevents the update from reinstalling automatically while you monitor for the next patch release.
