How to Add a New Satellite to Your Receiver List
Want to watch a satellite that is not in your receiver's preset list? Adding it takes a minute. Here is the process.
What You Need to Know
- The satellite's name.
- Its orbital position (e.g. 19.2°E).
- Whether your dish can physically point at it.
Add the Satellite
- Open the receiver's satellite / antenna menu.
- Choose “Add satellite”.
- Enter a name and the orbital position.
- Set the LNB type to universal.
- Set DiSEqC port if you have a switch.
Point the Dish First
A software entry alone does nothing — your dish still has to physically point at that satellite. If you use a fixed dish, you can only watch satellites it is already aimed at. A motorised dish can swing to the new one.
Add a Transponder (If Needed)
If you know a working transponder, add it manually with frequency, symbol rate and polarity. This helps the receiver find the satellite quickly.
Run a Scan
Select the new satellite and run a blind or network scan. The receiver will tune to it (via the motor or switch) and collect channels.
Save and Reboot
Save the settings and reboot the receiver so the new satellite appears in the channel list.
If It Does Not Tune
- Check the orbital position was entered correctly (east/west can be swapped).
- Confirm the motor can actually reach that satellite.
- Check the DiSEqC port matches the physical LNB.
Adding a satellite is just adding its name and position. The hard part is getting the dish there — software cannot point a fixed dish.
