Troubleshooting Receiver Configuration: Factory Reset and Re-setup
When a receiver's settings have got themselves into a tangle — wrong EPG, ghost channels, stuck menus — a clean reset and re-setup is often faster than diagnosing the problem. Here is how.
When to Reset
- The channel list is corrupt.
- The box behaves erratically after a bad update.
- You have bought a second-hand receiver and want a clean slate.
- A setting is stuck and you cannot reverse it.
Before You Reset
Back up your channel list and favourites to USB. Note any custom LNB or DiSEqC settings. You will need them again.
The Reset
- Menu → System → Factory Reset.
- Confirm the warning.
- Let the box restart on its own.
Re-setup from Scratch
- Choose language and country.
- Set the correct timezone.
- Set LNB type to universal, power on.
- Set DiSEqC ports if used.
- Select your satellite(s).
- Run a fresh scan.
- Restore favourites and settings from USB.
If the Reset Does Not Fix It
If the box still misbehaves after a clean setup, the problem is not the configuration — suspect hardware (power supply, overheating) or the dish itself.
What Resetting Does Not Fix
- A weak signal.
- A dead LNB.
- A knocked dish.
- Missing channels that have moved to encryption.
A factory reset is a clean slate for the software. It is worth doing when the box itself has gone wrong — not when the dish has.
